Weekly Photo Challenge : Opportunity

“There is a time for risky love. There is a time for extravagant gestures. There is a time to pour out your affections on the one you love. When the time comes -- seize it, don't miss it!” - Max Lucado

CARPE DIEM!!! Opportunities are seldom seen so it’s best that we seize them the moment they present themselves — whether in a form of a gift or a challenge.

[Gift] Love stories are often cheesy but they’re always passionate and honest. I met my boyfriend through an online game. It may be shallow to some, but I am proud to say that I love him even before we met IRL. I do not regret meeting up with him when the opportunity arose either. We’ve been together for almost eight years now. Our houses are too far from one another so our dates are always planned ahead of time. Not a moment is wasted whenever we go out. We only meet up once a week so we see to it that these rare opportunities are always treated as special.

[Challenge] My work has been stressful from day one up to now. The tasks may look the same but I handle them differently, individually — every single day. On top of that, I frequently cross paths with the people I loathe. It mostly drains my energy and my colleagues would even tell me how awful I look when I am stressed out.  Still, I wouldn’t put up with the hardships if I do not love my job. Aside from the good pay, I also love the recognition from my bosses. All those tiring moments disappear when they tell me that they need me. “I know there is a lot of pressure and I understand that but I won’t depend on you if I don’t see your potential. You have been doing an excellent job.” (These are the exact words from my boss’s email. Tee-hee!)

I am unsure what kind of jellyfish this is but it’s so pretty, swimming around in a tank. This is one of the highlights of Manila Ocean Park [link]. Notice that its head formed a heart shape from this angle. It was really difficult and it took me several shots before I got it right! This is my entry for the Weekly Photo Challenge [link].

Fragments of Memories . . .

A month has passed since my old PC died so I seldom went online. It was frustrating because a lot of things happened and I can barely remember them now. Only fragments of memories remain within — awaiting salvation. LoL!

Meiko's Pink Birthday~

Claribelle and I celebrated our birthdays together with the rest of the barkada. As usual, I am the only one in a dress and they were wearing jeans! Toni showed us a restaurant showcasing all sorts of Coca-cola memorabilia, which has been aptly named The Real Thing Diner. Their main color is red with a splash of white in between. The shelves beside the main entrance are donned with mugs, stuffed toys, bottles, and other trinkets. Another shelf is located atop the windowpane which is decorated with soda cans of varying designs. There is also a wide-screen TV playing Coke commercials dating back from the 80’s! How’s the food? Well, definitely not the best among the lot but the taste is just right. Another cool thing is that this is the one-and-only restaurant serving Royal True-Orange floats (AFAIK)! I felt so bad that I left Epiphany at home (darn rain)!!!

A favor for a favor ☻

My supervisor requested me to make a splash for his son's first birthday (above image is viewable only by Friends and Family). I gladly obliged, of course.

This is not a work-related request but I still wanted to do it since it deals with some of my hobbies – layouting and photo manipulation. It took me an accumulated 12 hours of post-processing. i didn't apply any new techniques, though.

In exchange of this request, he allowed me to have my lunch breaks later than what's scheduled for our team so I can spend quality time with Dada for one hour.

Trip to La Mesa Eco Park (June 2010) . . .

Event : TPG-HD Green Team GIRLS Bonding
Date : June 11, 2010
Venue :
La Mesa Eco Park, Quezon City

My colleagues decided to have our mini-team building in La Mesa Eco Park, a vast garden with lots of towering trees and beautiful flowers.

Even though it is just a few minutes ride away from our house, this is actually my first time going there. I was reluctant at first because not only do I dislike long walks on a hot sunny weather, I was also not very close with most of the girls (when this event was on its planning phase). Even so, the day turn out pretty well — it was exhausting but fun. The anxiety I felt before was replaced by ease and I don't regret my decision of going out with them.

Commuting via a green tricycle from FCM costs P15/person. The entrance fee is cheap at P50, and I got a P10 discount since I am a resident of Quezon City. The reason why the entrance fee is so cheap is because the rest of the park's amenities and "Adventure Zone" activities are expensive. A dip in their pool costs P100; renting a tent costs P500; a bike ride is P80/hr; the zip line, rapelling and wall climbing cost P100 each; boating costs P40 (I think); and the list goes on!

Apart from the cam-whoring, the best thing we did in this trip was the Zip Line. It looks dangerous but it's a thrilling experience! I'd love to try it again but it's darn expensive!

We started the trip at around 11AM and ended at 3PM. Short trip but it was still worth it. When I got home, I took a nice looooooonnnnggg bath (because I was sweating a lot due to excessive walking) before I edited the photos from the trip. ☺

28th birthday ~ ~ ~

May 26, 2010 … It was my first time spending my birthday in the office. I was quite irritated because I don't like working during special occasions but there's nothing much I can do about it this year. Anyway, as a courtesy, I treated my colleagues with two trays of spaghetti and a full-sized chocolate cake from Goldilocks. It cost me more or less P1k but it was OK and I think I became a bit at ease with them.

Dada and I were not able to go out because his work got in the way. I felt really bad. We even had an argument about it. Tsk! Well, he promised to make up for it so I let it pass.

Anyway (again)

May 27, 2010 … It was my day off the following morning so mom, my siblings and I went to SM North and celebrated there.

We had lunch in our favorite family restaurant, Tokyo Café. I ordered my favorite Demi Hamburg and Milk Oreo; Mom had her usual Seafood Salad; Leidi also ordered a Demi Hamburg and Caramel Espresso; while Popay had the Loco Moco and Milk Oreo too. The bill only cost me P1.1K so it was good enough. We need to be fancy sometimes. Maybe next time, I'd take them to Saisaki.

Popay and ShrekCheeeeeee~Hugzzzzz~

Prior to lunch, we grabbed tickets for Shrek : Forever After (Digital 3D) and they had their photos taken with a Shrek mascot. I was feeling a bit lazy so I didn't bother having my photo taken (also, I don't like entrusting people to take photographs of me using my camera).

May 28, 2010 … It was time for me to pay this month's bills. I also bought toiletries amd kikay make-up. By the end of the day, I've used up all my earnings for this cutoff. It was as if there's bad luck following me, my BPI ATM card got voided too so I can neither pay my BPI-EDGE credit card nor get money from my Direct Save-Up account. Jeez! I gotta control my expenses!

Well…. It's been a fun birthday week… Not the happiest birthday I had but it was still good.. and hell NO I'm not ashamed to say my age —– coz I don't look like a 28-year old anyway. Har har har!

Second wave of ailments . . .

September 26 … It was the fourth time I experienced serious palpitations. The first three were probably triggered by drinking too much coffee-vanilla. The latest was caused by the argument I had with my boyfriend during Ondoy.

October 2 … I went to Medical City (SM Fairview) to have my heart checked up. The cardiologist suspected a lot of causes (kidney, thyroid, lungs, blood, heart, caffeine intake and anxiety attacks). It was the beginning of a series of  other check ups.

October 11 … I skipped work again because I had a 2D-ECHO scheduled. This was my first time taking that lab test and I almost freaked out when my heart made some weird noises! LoL! I also had a blood sample taken, an X-Ray and ECG.

October 16 … I had rhinitis and I could barely breathe through my nose. This was probably caused by the unpredictable weather conditions. I went to the clinic three times. Despite that, the company nurse refused to send me home early and my supervisor cannot do anything about it. It was one of the most irritating times of my life.

October 17 … I skipped work again and went back to Medical City. By this time, I’ve already recognized the nurses and they too have become familiar with me. The ENT doctor gave me 1 day of bed rest. I met up with Jeiro to lend her my red wig. I was also happy when I told her that I can go to EK the next day!!! I also told Dada about it. He was against it at first but we settled it. I really love him! ♥

October 18 … I woke up and my rhinitis is gone — so was my voice! That didn’t prevent me from going to the Enchanted Kingdom though! Even without a voice, I can still have fun! [link to “OtakonEK 2009”]

October 19 … I skipped work again to meet up with the cardiologist. All tests indicated that I am very healthy – especially my heart. She wanted me to take Pulmonary tests but I cannot afford anymore time on it unless I file a long medical leave. The bills also amounted to P15k (that’s about 315 US dollars) so I am very thankful because we have MediCard (HMO). I just concluded that it might be my anxieties causing everything.

October 21-24 … I was absent the whole week because my voice has not fully recovered. I went back to the ENT and he diagnosed that it’s an acute laryngitis. The Operations Manager then asked for a “Fit-to-work” certificate. I never filed any.

November 7 … My sleeping problems has taken its toll. While I was taking a nap, I experienced “Sleep Paralysis” and it was one of the most terrifying things that happened to me. It wasn’t just because I couldn’t move nor talk during that ordeal, I was also having auditory hallucinations. I was really scared! I am very grateful to my boyfriend because he was the one who woke me up. If he wasn’t there, I might’ve died. [link to “Hypnagogia . . .”]

Closet Cosplay . . .

It's COSPLAY DAY in 24/7 !!!

Is cosplay becoming a fad in BPO's now? A few months after I left Teletech, they held a cosplay contest as well.

I originally wanted our team to go as the AKATSUKI but that plan never pushed through due to the lack of funds and motivation. Instead, some of my teammates and I dressed up as "dolls" and I (again) revived my Irene costume.

The preparations took us weeks so I was very disappointed when the actual event only lasted less than an hour. We just needed to submit "one shot"  to the judges and that's about it. I could've just submitted an old photo to them. Grrrr! It was the shortest cosplay I've ever done!

It was a good thing that some of my teammates decided to roam around and take more pictures as souvenirs.
