It was Dada’s birthday!!! He’s a year older than me again — for the next five months! Hooray! Continue reading

I am not a Cat-person . . .

Dada and I went out and had our kris kringle. I gave him a leather wallet and he gave me a Hello Kitty USB flash drive. I don't like it because I am not a cat-person nor a Sanrio fan and HK reminds me of a former friend. I didn't smile when he showed it to me. I shook my head and rejected it. I appreciate him better when he's giving me chocolate marshmallows instead of a limited edition item that's of no use to me… but I thought that I was being rude since that gift is from him, nonetheless. Before our date ended, I voluntarily took the USB drive and told him that it will just serve as a display but I will not touch it. Sigh. This is the first time I rejected a present… on top of that, it's Dada's present!

Drive . . .

Dada met up with me and my siblings today to fetch Dad from NAIA.It was really nice of him to offer the ride since my sibs and I don't know how to get to the airport through commuting. I promised that I would shoulder his gas and food expenses.

We also went to Duty Free and bought some chocolates. Dad gave Dada a bag and a plastic-load of Toblerone.

We had dinner in Saisaki and I shelled out 3.6K Php. I ran out of cash so I borrowed extra from Dada. It was really embarassing! I thought I had enough money but I was wrong. I promised to pay him next time we go out. Golly! Really embarassing! Urgh~~~

I know Dada was so tired because he drove for roughly six hours from his house to our house and back to his office.

I thanked him for everything and promised to pay my "utang" on our next date.

OtakonEK 2008 ! ! !

I woke up around 5:38AM and put on black nail polish. Good thing it dried up fast so I was able to finish within an hour.

I left the condo around 7:15AM because Dada was supposed to give me the ROSE installer before I leave. We met up in KFC beside the Ayala-MRT station 15 minutes later. Well, he forgot to bring the installer so we just had some chit-chat. I wasn't sure if he was serious or if he was just teasing me when he said "'wag ka na pumunta sa EK" (don't go to EK anymore) because he was smiling. So I told him that there would be several conditions if I am to do that. I asked him to reimburse the expenses I had so far with the OtakonEK preparation and that we have to go to EK next month. He then said "Sige na nga, umalis ka na lang!" (Alright then, just go!). Hahaha!

We met up with Jeiro and Ten around 9:15AM and we headed to the EK shuttle service. The situation was contrary to what we have expected — there were less than 10 cosplayers waiting. Dada gave me his ATM card sleeve and shades pouch so I can put my money in there. He noticed that my Lolita bag was so cluttered so he snagged it from me and arranged my stuff so that everything would fit inside — yes, he's OC! He also asked me to text him once in a while so he'd be updated as to what's happening. He said he would sulk if I don't! Well, I would be texting him often even if he didn't tell me. ^_^

The shuttle left at 9:30AM and we reached EK around 10:30AM. I was shocked to see a lot of vehicles already parked and what's more, a lot of cosplayers are already dressed up! In short, WE ARE SO LATE!!! I forgot the fact that about 90% of the cosplay community is composed of wealthy kids so they have their own cars and personal assistants. LOL!

Jeiro and I changed into our cosplay clothes in the ladies room outside the park because the marshals wouldn't let us in if we're not dressed up. What shocked me more was that there's this teenage girl cosplayer who, probably was in much of a hurry and couldn't wait until one of the cubicles became available, undressed herself in a vacant portion of the ladies room! The door of the CR was open and there's a HUGE mirror in front so she's a free game to those nose-bleeding guys standing outside. OMG! It was hilarious!

After getting lockers, we started strolling inside the park. There were plenty of people who asked us to take photos with them and we gladly agreed. Some kids got scared of me, though. It's probably because they see me as a huge walking-and-talking doll with a Sharingan! There's this one cute Chinese baby who got curious and kept on staring at me. I wanted to take a photo of him with me but I got shy asking his mom. Besides, he was too delicate that I got anxious because I might hurt him. I'm really not good with kids… A lot of people would also pass by and murmur "Oh my! She's got red eyes!" Jeiro and Ten laughed when I told them that I get that comment a lot when I wear these contact lenses.

We entered Eldar's Tent and I got to see Jaja. I got the Victoria headdress from her and also bought another annulet to complete my Lolita ensemble. There were a lot more items I wanted to buy from her but I couldn't decide that time! Shucks!

We were not able to eat while inside EK. The restaurants were jam-packed with normal people, cosplayers, and other patrons. So we decided to just have a drink and rest a bit before we continue strolling around.

We didn't join the cosplay competition because I don't want to feel the pressure and I wanted to go around the park as much as we can. I also didn't have time to take photos of other cosplayers. They paraded around the park, according to one of the employees, and they asked us why we didn't join. I told her "Namamasyal lang po kami tsaka ine-enjoy yung rides. Hindi po kami kasali dun." (We're just strolling around and enjoying the rides. We're not part of that.) Anyway, I did indicate on the online pre-registration that I will not join the contest.

While occasionally posing for photo-ops and all, we also tried some rides and tested the "KAPIT" POWER of our blond wigs!

STAGE 1 : Roller Skater *CLEARED!!!*
STAGE 2 : Anchor's Away! *CLEARED!!!*
STAGE 3 : Flying Fiesta *CLEARED!!!*
STAGE 4 : Wheel of Fate *CLEARED!!!*
Bonus Stage : Grand Carousel *CLEARED!!!*
STAGE 5 : Up! Up and Away! *CLEARED!!!*
STAGE 6 : Rio Grande *CLEARED!!!*
Hidden Challenge : Space Shuttle *NOT ENOUGH POINTS!!!*

The last ride we took was the Rio Grande and that's where I got drenched up to my undies. The Rio Grande and Wheel of Fate photographers took about 4-6 shots with me in it and and I liked them all but it was too bad they do not sell soft copies anymore. It would be too expensive if I buy all of them! Hah! Nevermind . . .

On the way to the locker room, I saw my crush but since I was not prim and proper after the Rio Grande ride, I got too shy to ask a photo with him. Instead, I just said "Hi!" and then left. *sigh* I wish I can see him on the next conventions. *dreams on* I also saw a lot of my cosplay friends and online buddies. I just said "hi!" to them too. We were in so much of a hurry to change our clothes because we were soaking wet!

We wanted to try the Space Shuttle but there was no time left too. *sob*

I guess it was also okay to leave early since we're not cramming and there's no competition in the dressing areas and transpo.

The shuttle left at 6PM and we arrived in Glorietta after 30 minutes! We had dinner in KFC before going home.

I reached our house around 9PM and everyone was already asleep. I tried editing some photos while talking to Dada via the YM phone. *sigh*

Well, there it goes. One month of waiting for this event and it's over just like that. Hah! Ang bilis! I had loads of fun though. I hope there would be another event like this next year!

Happenings this 4th Week of September 2008 . . .

Sept.22 (Mon)

I wasn't able to go home because of the split-off so Dada and I just spent some time together before we went to work. I requested him to go with me on OtakonEK but he said he already traded his day-off with his officemate. Booo~~~

Anyway, Jeiro will be joining me and we'll both be wearing blond wigs! Weeeeeeeeee~~~~

Sept.23 (Tue)

I finally got the package from Rui and I like both the earrings and the annulet. Since they were delivered late, I didn't have time to put them on and take photos. I also ordered a bonnet from Jaja but I requested her not to have it shipped anymore because it might not arrive on time. I'll just get it from her on the event day itself.

Sept.24 (Wed)

I used that hype to buy make-up for the cosplay and do a test-run on my

accessories. The knot of the choker I bought got detached because I pulled it too hard and it was just glued, not sown. Nonetheless, I was able to remedy it so it was okay and it still looked good on me. The cross earrings are wonderful, although they are being blocked by my wig so they are not noticeable on most of the shots I took. After a couple of weeks, I wore my Sharingan again and I am not sure if it looks good with my Lolita ensemble or not. It looks good without the wig because I have the black-red-white konbi. Bahala na si Batman on the event day!

 Sept.27 (Sat)

I was working but all I could think about was OtakonEK! I guess it helped reducing the stress I got from stupid customers. I really hate our shift. Time passes by so slowly here.

I had a little chit-chat with Dada and I told him that we need to cancel our breakfast date because I will be going home after my shift and prepare a couple of things for tomorrow. Instead, we had a dinner date in KFC then we went to ShopWise to look for a Lolita-ish bag. One thing I noticed about him is that he criticizes a lot of things when we go shopping, but he really has taste and he knows what looks good and what doesn't. This is like the 3rd or 4th time he went shopping with me and he gets to pick up the item I need and I end up liking it!

Jeiro and I are also making plans for tomorrow. I read Azrael's post and he said there are *shiiiiin* 384 *shiiiiin* registered cosplayers who're going to OtakonEK!!! OMG!!! I told her that I'm anxious to ride the shuttle in Glorietta because assuming all or even just half of those participants (with their chaperons) will be riding the 9:30AM shuttle, not everyone will be accommodated.

 Sept.28 (Sun)

Uhm, I'll post this one separately.

*sings* Let's go to E.K.~~ Let's go to OtakonEK~!!!

Happenings this 3rd Week of September 2008 . . .

Sept.15 (Monday)

I went to Dada's place so we could spend quality time again. He showed me two MMORPG's that he's playing — Grand Chase and ROSE Evolution. GC avatars are cute and it has a Platform / Side-scrolling interface, like Maple Story. The controls are a bit confusing but maybe I can get used to it if I play some more. ROSE was once available locally but it closed about a year or so ago. It's like a mix of Ragnarok Online and Tales of Pirates. Since ROSE was created by Gravity, the sound effects were similar to RO. Hahaha!

I also wanted to get his DJ Max PSP game but the file was too large and I don't have free space left. Darn, I need to get a 4GB memory stick…

Sept.16 (Tuesday)

The GC and ROSE apps that Dada gave me were not working so I couldn't install them in my PC. Dada told me to just download the client from the main website. I did that but the file still ended up being corrupted. I downloaded it for 8 hours!!! Darn game. T_________________T

I visited some online shops in Multiply and I got addicted with gothic and punk lolita accessories! OMG! I am draining money once again on cosplay items! Nuuuuuuuuuuuuu~~~

Sept.17 (Wed)

After shift, Roy called me up and told me that Faye's back in the country. She already told him about some of the things that I revealed to her via the YM chat a few days back. I sensed that something bad is gonna happen so before that, I immediately called and told her not to mention my name because I don't want to riot with him in the office.

I loaded my GCash so I could pay Rui the EGL wristband and earrings. She said she'll also lend me her black-and-red striped socks to add to my Lolita ensemble. I also got the Punk-Lolita choker from Jaja and it's really pretty! I tried wearing the crown I bought from Marien a few weeks back but I had a hard time making it stay put on my head. So, I decided that I'll just let Thuggles wear it once we go to OtakonEK. Sigh, how I envy these ladies because they have the resources and skill to make Lolita stuff.

I got my Wise Card from Shopwise after three months of constantly purchasing there and collected receipts amounting to 5k! Woot! I dunno how it works but it's a good addition to my electronic cards collection. LoL!

I noticed that the room I am renting is getting a wee bit crowded. I have to clean my room in Fairview and bring back some stuff I no longer need in the condo. It's a good thing my roommate isn't perplexed when she saw my katana and wakizashi lying on my bed!

Sept.18 (Thu)

It's as if fate would have it, I woke up a few minutes before I got a text message from Dan. He asked me to come to his place before he leaves Manila tomorrow. I passed by their unit before I went to work and he gave me a key chain with the Hong Kong logo printed on it. In return, I gave him one of my cross pendants as a parting gift. He escorted me to the lobby and I hugged him tightly one last time. I asked him when he'd be coming back and he said "After 6 months … 2 years at most." It really hurts when I say "Goodbye" to people close to me and I don't know when I'd be seeing them again. He invited me to Butuan for his birthday but I told him I have the OtakonEK to attend to and I don't have enough VL credits. *sigh*

Sept.19 (Fri)

Hmm, another quote that I came up with because of stress … "Yes, they're like dinosaurs – everything is big except for their brains!!!™"

Sept.20 (Sat)

I registered Irene in place of my Wrath costume for OtakonEK and it's been approved by Azrael.

Rui sent me a text message stating that she'll ship my items on Monday. I got an email from Mannequin Inc. (wig shop) telling me that their store is open Monday-Saturday 'til 7pm. Because of the shift change, I won't be able to visit them! Groan~

Dada fetched me from the office and we had breakfast in McDonald's. We talked about issues going on within our workplace and it seems that we're both having difficulties with the career path we chose. I told him that I'll only stay for six months and then I will start looking for a new job because even though 24/7 offers a high pay, I don't get to enjoy life as it happens. It's really contrary to their motto which is "Work-Life Balance."

We headed to the condo and he took my PSP memory stick so that he can use it to save the installer of the new game he wants me to try out. I told him that I plan not to go home this weekend since we only have 1 day off so it might take a while before I use it.

I asked him to leave his PSP with me so I can play DJ Max but he teasingly refused. He said that if I really wanted his PSP, then I must sing for him! I really hate singing and I get mad when people ask me to do things I don't want to do. I told him that he's abusing his rights as my boyfriend but he just laughed. *sigh* I sang for him anyway – just a few lines from "Runaway" by The Corrs since it was the song being played that time. He put his memory stick on my PSP and that erased the saved data of DJ Max! I dunno exactly what happened but he said maybe it's because his memory stick isn't original or something… @__@

Sept.21 (Sun)

Since Mannequin Inc. is closed right now, I tried checking other wig shops to look for the blond hair similar to Jeiro's. There's Scarlet in Robinson's Galleria. I didn't find what I was looking for but I saw a very gorgeous long curly red wig and it's P5,600! OMG! It's 5x the price of my costume! I didn't have money to buy it so I got out of Galle as quickly as I can and rode a taxi going to the Greenhills Shopping Center. I found a shop there called Lynelle and I think they're the sister-company of Mannequin because the sample photos on their catalogs are the same. I found the wig I was looking for and I got it for P1,500. I hurriedly went back to the condo and I'm glad I didn't get lost!
