This is my old photo when I was cosplaying “Wrath”, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Love is War

My youngest sister had been bugging me since March 2012 about a Vocaloid-themed convention which she desperately wanted to attend. She was so excited that she asked me to buy tickets a few days after pre-sold ones were available — and because of that, we officially became Guests #1 and #2!

Best of Animé 2011 [Day 2] . . .

I only visit conventions once in a while and I have to have a good reason before doing such.

My original plan was to meetup with a cosplay-buddy to get my commissioned items but since he had personal things to take care of then our meetup was cancelled. Still, I decided to go because I also promised my little sister that I would accompany her in looking for the manga  that she wanted. I also thought that it would be a great opportunity for me to search for Gothic pendants which are very elusive in regular stores.

MOA is a relatively large place and I don’t frequently go there so I get lost easily. It’s a good thing that I know and I had spotted the right people to follow —- the nerds! We followed their lead without them noticing and after a few minutes, we were already in front of SMX. LoL!

I was surprised that the hall was quite empty even though it’s the middle of the day. The first thing that we did was roam around and looked for manga. Unfortunately, there was none. We only found magazines, pirated DVDs and other customized memorabilia. The only booth that had manga was that of Japan Foundation. My little sister decided to stay there while I roam around some more.

The shops that had a wide variety of merchandise truly caught my attention. I bought a nice Harajuku polo from Sugarfree and Blue. I’ll wear it the next time I attend a convention. It was also nice seeing the Gothic and Lolita communities broadening in the country. I also bought a cross pendant and a customized mug.

I didn’t bother taking photos of cosplayers because they didn’t appeal much to me. I did spend time taking photographs of figma and nendroids, though.

5th TAGCOM (Toys & Hobbies Convention) ! ! !

Events photography sure isn’t simple. This is definitely not my forte. Aside from the fact that I lack the proper tools (and skills), I also had to constantly request for the cosplayers to pose and then compete with other photographers in getting the shots I wanted. Unfortunately, I was also wearing wedges so I couldn’t walk too much.

Lookie! Epiphany has a tissue wrapped on the built-in flash. LoL! Lawrence said tissues are used as "diffusers" and I was amazed because it did work wonders. LoL!

Anyway, it was still nice seeing my cosplay and my photographer friends. Lawrence gave me useful tips and Erving lent me his camera accessories. Jeiro and Lora also attended the event and I was impressed on how intricate their costumes were. I was kinda surprised too that they still recognized me despite the fact that I’ve gained much weight and I have bangs. LoL!

I only took shots of the cosplayers that caught my attention and there’s just a few of them (some are not included here). I also got disappointed with the quality of the photos I was producing — maybe because I wasn’t putting my heart into it.

Steady ... steady ... steady ... AAAAAAAAAARRRGGHHHH!!!!

I just roamed around the convention area to ease my frustrations — I felt a bit better but my feet were starting to burn!

The convention area was so small yet it's jam-packed with cosplayers, hobbyists, otaku and their chaperons.

I was eying on a Lolita shop near the stage but I got irritated when I found out how poorly-made the products were. Those people have even sewn ruffles on the edges of the cheap umbrellas to imitate parasols. Blergh!

The booth that caught my interest was The Keybie Café. It had numerous chibi renditions of animé characters. I bought four cellphone-chains which were P50 a piece.

The Keybie Café. The lady there was kind enough and she allowed me to take photos of her booth.

Jeiro, Lora, Lawrence and I held a mini-photoshoot right after the catwalk. We found a nice spot just a few meters away from Marks & Spencer and there was a wall with glowing yellow-green lights.

Lora as the "Lunatic Queen" and Jeiro as "Elisabeth" (Pullip dolls)

The aura suddenly changed when we had the entire space for ourselves. I was able to produce decent photographs with the help of Lawrence and the lights. We then decided to hold a more formal photoshoot soon. Tee-hee~

♥ RED ♥

I have been very busy this weekend, simultaneously attending two events!!! Uhm, I was wearing the same red dress (but not the same lingerie LoL) for two days because I didn’t go home!

July 10, 2010

I got invited to Tito Oscar‘s 60th birthday (he is Dada‘s dad). I really planned on wearing my new red dress but I had no idea that their theme color is also RED — and that it is ONLY for immediate family members! I was uber embarrassed kasi para akong feelingera. Ngars!

The party was held in the Emerald Garden, their family’s favorite Chinese fine dining restaurant. They mostly go here dusing special occasions. EG served a lot of dishes including Yang Chow rice, Shrimp Salad, Steamed Lapu-lapu, Steamed Crabs, Tapa, Chicken Fillet, Noodles with “Pink” Quail Eggs, Kua Pao, fresh fruits and canned sodas.

Dada was very busy that night attending to the guests so I opted sitting next to his friends: Vrian, Ronna, and Rap-rap. He reserved a seat for me in their family table but I declined. I knew that he was busy and I don’t wanna be left alone there. At least I won’t get bored when I’m chatting with his best pals and their their family-friends (who happen to be our neighbors).

Even though I opted eating on a separate table, I still checked up on Dada and thought if he was doing okay. He became grumpy when I declined his offer a while ago. When he finally sat down, I immediately went to their table and hugged him. I explained to him why I opted not to join their table.

Tita Star gave me a pack of polvorón after the event and they also accompanied us to the nearest bus stop.

July 11, 2010

Dada and I went to SM Megamall after lunch, hoping to watch Despicable Me. Unfortunately, it’s not released yet locally. We strolled around the mall, thinking of things to do, then we bumped into some teenagers wearing wigs. I soon recalled that there’s a convention going on, which is the I Ai Animé — “I ~Love~ Animé” when translated. Dada said this is the perfect time for us to spot the AWESOMERS and the FAILS of cosplay. LoL!

Each ticket cost P100, which is the usual rate for local conventions. When we got in, we found so much moving space that it’s baffling! Yes, it is. Most conventions are jam-packed and a lot of con-goers often occupy the whole 5th floor! Today was undoubtedly different as there’s not much crowd and not much booths. Although, my eyes still feasted on some Lolita stuff and a few awesomers. I managed to buy Lolita stuff from Jaja, the same cute seller from OtakonEK ’08.

Dada took photos of some cosplayers using my cellphone but most shots are either too dim or too blurry. Darn, I regret leaving my camera at home!

We didn’t bother staying too long since there’s nothing much to see. We stopped by Dairy Queen to have ice cream before going to the arcade and played Guitar Hero. We had dinner in Cajun around 6PM. It was getting late and I have work tomorrow so Dada and I had to go home early.

Sigh, I waited for this weekend for a long time and it passed by so quickly! I had so much fun, though. This is also the first time that Dada and I were both wearing red! LoL!

My Cosplay Database (衣裳のデータベース) ! ! !

I
compiled all the costumes I wore during the past conventions and photoshoots to form my own Costume Database. Hahaha!

There’s only a few of them … I really don’t consider myself as a cosplay-addict yet. I’m more like the “casual” type. As much as possible, I also don’t cosplay famous characters and I prefer original get-ups because it’s hard for me to look for an established character that suits my personality (plus, I am also not good at accepting criticism).

Thanks to everyone for the support!

Closet Cosplay . . .

It's COSPLAY DAY in 24/7 !!!

Is cosplay becoming a fad in BPO's now? A few months after I left Teletech, they held a cosplay contest as well.

I originally wanted our team to go as the AKATSUKI but that plan never pushed through due to the lack of funds and motivation. Instead, some of my teammates and I dressed up as "dolls" and I (again) revived my Irene costume.

The preparations took us weeks so I was very disappointed when the actual event only lasted less than an hour. We just needed to submit "one shot"  to the judges and that's about it. I could've just submitted an old photo to them. Grrrr! It was the shortest cosplay I've ever done!

It was a good thing that some of my teammates decided to roam around and take more pictures as souvenirs.
